Raytheon Technologies Mechanical Assembler I in West Des Moines, Iowa
Mechanical Assembler I is an entry level position. The purpose for an operator at this level is to gain a basic understanding of deburring and air grinding operations. Operators must obtain a basic level knowledge in order to deburr and clean parts in a manner necessary to produce precision parts with direct supervision by a more senior Mechanical Assembler with Deburring Certification (level II or above). Follows established standard work under general supervision in efforts to obtain certification within 120 days. The operator will typically refer problems or deviations to more experiences operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors, or engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain and operate deburring and air grinding tools and operate speed lathes.
Read blueprints in order to verify work was completed properly.
Operate and do daily/weekly checks on equipment.
Accurately participate in the COPQ process, utilizes ACE portal for issues or process improvement.
Accurately complete production documentation and performs necessary labor transactions.
Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be a US Person
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to use various hand tools and equipment such as a mechanical press, air grinder and speed lathe on products of an extremely small scale.
Ability to train others
Basic proficiency with read and understand prints
Moderate computer proficiency (e-mail, print documents, internet) including ability to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances
Basic knowledge of various inspection tools needed for the job
Basic knowledge of ACE principles and their application plus utilizes ACE portal on a regular basis to document issues and opportunities
Basic knowledge of manufacturing principles and processes
Basic understanding of the tools (ball burr, flame bit etc.) needed for each job.
Basic understanding of deburring, air grinding and cleaning operations.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management.
