DescriptionSummaryInspect and test machined, fabricated, or assembled parts in custom build projects that have involved welding. Responsible for monitoring the weld practices during the project as well.Essential FunctionsWorks with engineers, designers, project managers, quality assurance, vendors and suppliers verify conformance where weld was used for production.Ensures all operations are in complete compliance with safety legislation.Documentation of the weld process by developing a system where welders are able to log work appropriately.Updates documentation and prepares reports according to the client's specifications.Checks all welding equipment and related items.Monitors work such as preheat, in-process work, consumables, work areas, and all compliances for approved welding procedure.Visually inspect joints, identify repairs, and final weldments for quality assurance.Marks defective processes and identifies if scrap or repair is needed.Develops a list of welding materials such as gases and metals needed for custom builds according to specifications.Visits the site of a contracted supplier to determine if compliance and quality assurance of a welding part or component is being fulfilled if needed.Meets with vendors of weld materials to be informed of the latest weld materials.May be involved in client visits to provide details related to the inspection process when needed.Understands and complies with requirements of the QMS, AS9100, and/or ISO 9000.Overtime as required.Travel on an as required basis.Additional duties as assigned.RequirementsRequired:Current Weld Inspector certification.Knowledge of the raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques to complete a project effectively.Knowledge of various techniques to produce according to drawings or technical plans.Attention to precision and successful completion as work is completed.Ability to work with Microsoft Suites: Excel, Word, Outlook.Doerfer Companies actively seeks to enhance diversity and is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
