Position Overview:

The main duties of the Mobile Mechanic position include performing a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles. This is a full-time position, requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the superintendent, and has no supervisory responsibility.

    Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects

  • Perform a full range of repair and modification work on heavy equipment vehicles to include, but not limited to light duty, heavy duty and trucks, backhoes, loaders, paving equipment, and miscellaneous equipment

  • Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings, and oil seals

  • Repair hydraulic and air brake systems

  • Determine the nature and extent of repairs required

  • Perform minor repairs on engines, power transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel and hydraulic components

  • Use technical manuals and other publications to identify and order repair parts

  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects

  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and overall strong diagnostic skills

  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)

    Position Requirements:

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test

  • CAT certified Technician

  • Class B CDL or greater

  • Experience in heavy equipment/diesel mechanics

  • Accreditation from school of mechanics or 3 plus years working with heavy construction equipment

  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal
