Aerotek Machine Operator in Iowa City, Iowa

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and mechanically inclined Machine Operator to join our team. In this role, you will take on the responsibility of managing the production line, from operating bottle machines to stacking finished products and ensuring the quality of the packaging. You will be an essential part of our production team, responsible for monitoring machine operations, conducting quality inspections, and pulling samples for lab testing. This is a hands-on role requiring regular physical activity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor computer systems controlling bottle machines

  • Stack finished products and ensure proper packaging

  • Monitor production and troubleshoot issues as they arise

  • Pull samples for lab testing to ensure product quality

  • Record production data and any problems encountered during your shift

  • Ensure production meets the required quantity and specifications

  • Work effectively as part of a team and maintain efficiency

  • Regular physical tasks such as standing, walking, and reaching

  • Lift 10 lbs regularly, 30 lbs frequently, and occasionally up to 50 lbs

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as a machine operator

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (standing for long periods)

  • Basic computer skills for operating production systems

  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

Work Environment

Our company specializes in the manufacturing of bottles and caps for consumer products such as shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, and hand soap. You will work in a production facility adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) .

  • Dress Code: Steel-toed boots, long pants (jeans or khakis), and a t-shirt. We provide ear plugs, hair nets, and other necessary protective equipment.

  • Shifts: 12-hour switch shifts from 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, rotating between 2 on/2 off and 3 on/3 off schedules.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
