Alamo Group Inc. Assembler Factory Production in Indianola, Iowa

Herschel Parts, Inc. (member of Alamo Group Inc.) is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Assembler II in our Factory Production Sickle Assembly Department at our facility located in Indianola, Iowa.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs any combination of the following tasks: assembly, packaging, labeling and material handling. Insures accurate count of parts and material.


  1. Interprets company work orders, blue prints and instructions.

  2. Prepares work area for assembly work according to work order, procure materials required by bill of material for the product, and performs assembly tasks.

  3. Performs packaging tasks to complete work assignments.

  4. Sets up and operates equipment such as air staplers, assembly fixtures and torque wrenches.

  5. Moves material by hand, hand truck or crane to and from workstation.

  6. Assembles parts together with bolts, rivets or other fasteners using hand tools and portable power pneumatic tools.

  7. Operates drills and presses.

  8. Racks work pieces on conveyor, counts and weighs, loads and moves materials to and from work area.

  9. Checks quality of output per company specifications and quality requirements to include immediate reporting of defects and/or operating irregularities.

  10. Required to keep accurate records pertaining to materials, tooling handled, work orders, quality checks and time sheets and inventory move tickets.

  11. Maintains equipment and cleans up immediate work area daily.

  12. May assist in training other employees.

  13. In performance of job duties follows required safety policies, practices and procedures.


  1. High School Diploma or GED and previous experience in a factory production environment.

  2. Ability to read, write, and comprehend blueprints, routers, and verbal and written instructions.

  3. Ability to handle parts less than one pound repetitiously, capable of twisting and turning continuously.

  4. Must possess manual dexterity, mechanically inclined, and good hand/eye coordination.

  5. Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices and tools.

  6. Must be able to use overhead crane and scales.

  7. Must be able to lift 60 pounds alone and/or with mechanical assistance.

  8. Must be able to lift 9' bars of steel alone with bars greater than 9' up to 30' with assistance.


Work performed in a non-climate controlled metal manufacturing production environment, with frequent standing, twisting, bending, stooping for extended periods of time. Occasional (2 to 3 times per day) lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 60 pounds alone and/or with mechanical assistance. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify required material and operate punch press following established safety protocol.
