Position Overview & Responsibilities:
Christensen Farms is seeking a Feed Mill Maintenance Mechanic at our Forest City, IA Feed Mill. This position will be responsible to ensure all Feed Mill equipment is in proper working order while assessing any possible preventative maintenance. Service, repair, and recondition will be necessary on Feed Mill Equipment and machinery, new or used. This position will be expected to maintain and operate shop equipment and tools and perform quality repairs, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm; On-call every other week (Sunday - Saturday) for after hours repairs
Major Areas of Accountability:
Responsible for 100% timely completion of the set maintenance program as defined on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
Responsible for any as needed maintenance as directed by the different facets of the Feed Mill.
Responsible for communication of any maintenance issues to Plant Manager.
Ensure all safety mechanisms are in complete operation and area maintained on a timely basis.
Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed.
Perform any inspections as required.
Keep accurate, easy-to-read records of work performed.
Responsible to research potential repair options and propose changes/purchases to Plant Manager.
Responsible to ensure accurate and efficient work order process.
Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
Help maintain cleanliness, neatness, and safety of work area and building.
Coordinate with Plant Manager for scheduled Repair & Maintenance.
Responsible for staying current with technical and safety changes, continuing education if necessary.
Must provide seasonal assistance with the operation of corn piling/retrieving and snow removal.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2+ years experience in a maintenance related field.
Knowledge of electrical, welding, cutting, plumbing, general carpentry, heating, and air conditioners.
Working understanding of computers.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
Ability to operate large machinery.
Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
