Distinguishing Features of the Class
Oversees and provides technical work involving the research, design, installation, configuration, testing and maintenance for all Process Control Systems (PCS), including processor hardware, processor programming, and all Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) related software for the Wastewater Reclamation Authority’s facilities and coordinates daily with the WRF Systems & Network Administrator.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in Electronics, Computer Information Systems or related field; and
Considerable experience in the design, analysis, testing, installation, and implementation of process control systems involving the calibration, electronic analysis, field wiring and related programming; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work

Required Special Qualifications
Possession of a valid Iowa driver’s license.
Candidates for this position will be required to pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen.
Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)
Provide technical services and maintenance of process control networks, hardware and system software.
Perform skilled activities in the installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation, control and energy management systems and equipment. This includes associated controls such as PLC interfacing, logic changes, graphical interface changes, designing and maintaining industrial networks.
Install, configure, and maintain PCS network, logic, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
Perform skilled and technical maintenance on instrumentation and controls and electronics.
Troubleshoot, repair and test the WRA’s facility access control hardware and software.
Troubleshoot and test process control programs for proper operation. Review problems associated with industrial control equipment, including telemetry, data communications equipment, and electronic relays.
Operate and maintain process control equipment, including: Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), PLCs, and communication equipment. Review circuit logic and control system schematics.
Install, test, repair, and document complex electronic equipment related to data communications and computer interfacing in a process control network of PLCs, RTUs, and personal computers.
Diagnose and correct faults in process control hardware, peripherals, software, and network components.
Work closely with other network and support personnel to solve client server and network related problems.
Assist with data center power requirements including installing, testing, and troubleshooting WRF Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
Work to integrate WRF systems with other systems in the City's environment.
Keep immediate supervisor advised of work progress including current and potential problems and suggests methods for solving such problems.
Maintain knowledge of current state of technology that applies to areas of responsibility.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
