Bridgestone Americas, Inc Tower Operator in Des Moines, Iowa
The Tower Operator performs daily testing assignments at a speed sufficient enough to maintain production flow with zero percent error. Candidates must operate tower and detect off batches through visual inspections and/or specific test distribution. Candidate is required to fill out daily log sheets and perform physical tests.
The Tower Operator must be in constant communication with Manufacturing & Production Supervision on any issues. They are required to report 100% of off batches, abnormal tests, defective equipment, defective compound, etc. to supervisor and log test results.
Other duties include:
Monitoring pellets for soap coverage and dryness
Works with on-shift Supervisor on production request of where to store pellets
Operates a control panel that opens slide gates and turn on augers to assure pellets are going to the correct storage location
Periodically will conduct gravity testing on the rubber
Enters work orders for the pellet deliver system and information supervision when there are issues
Typically works independently
May coach or train newer employees on specialization team
Takes initiative to resolve non-routine problems
Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience
The Tower Operator controls the distribution of master batch pellets to remill and Final Banbury for the Agricultural Tire Manufacturing Plant in Des Moines, Iowa. This position is on a 12-hour shift. The workweek runs Sunday through Saturday. Applicants must be able to work night shift. Night shift is from 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. Teammates must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule with 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next week (including every other weekend).Positions in this sub-family are responsible for the set-up, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes.
