Emerson Quality Technician in Des Moines, Iowa

Essential Functions:

Deep understanding of metal machining techniques
Part layout & CMM
Direct daily activities for the QA group
Oversee gage calibration
Help in design of gage methods
Work with engineering on new product development and troubleshooting issues
Train inspectors and shop employees as needed
Provide floor training and support as required
Participate in continuous improvement events such as 5S+1 and Kaizen
Work with suppliers on quality issues
Work with material non-conformance database
Write temporary deviations for production
Responsibility for quality on all three shifts (1st Shift – 7:00AM to 3:00PM, 2nd Shift – 3:00PM to 11:00PM, 3rd Shift – 11:00PM – 7:00AM
Occasional weekend work as needed
Core hours are 7:00AM – 3:00PM with coverage of off-shifts as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

High school or equivalent.
Good computer skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership and people skills. Must be a strong team player
Logical mindset with strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of manufacturing experience
Positive results-oriented attitude
Proven experience with manufacturing leadership and lean principles
ISO 9001:2015 knowledge
Gage dimensional tolerancing knowledge

Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel, reach with hands and arms, frequently above shoulders, climb steps and/or balance, talk and/or hear. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
