Job Title: Chemical Mixer Operator

Job Description

As a Chemical Mixer Operator, your role will involve processing raw materials and chemicals, following a batch record to mix the correct chemicals together to create the final product. You will utilize various machines to measure the amount of raw material to put into the tank and take samples for the lab to process the quality of the product you are mixing. The chemicals come in large plastic bags that will be lifted using a crane. You will sign off on documents to ensure you add the correct type and amount of material. This is a physical role that involves pushing material out of a bag using a large mixing device, climbing stairs to the top of the tanks, and using computer skills to operate the machine that monitors and controls the tank levels. You must be open to performing other work-related duties as assigned. You will be suited up in a full uniform and respirator mask due to chemical exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Process raw materials and chemicals according to batch records

  • Operate machines to measure and mix raw materials

  • Lift large plastic bags of chemicals using a crane

  • Take samples for lab quality processing

  • Sign off on documentation for material type and amount

  • Push material out of bags using a large mixing device

  • Climb stairs to access the top of the tanks

  • Operate computer systems to monitor and control tank levels

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Skills

  • Reading batch records and recipes

  • Checking balances to ensure correct amounts of raw material

  • Measuring chemicals of raw material to be added

  • Using math skills

  • Experience as a machine operator, utility technician, or production technician

  • Attention to detail for reporting

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently

  • Physical strength to lift or move up to 50 pounds

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience of 2-4 years preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience with RF scanners, formulation, quality control, mixer operation, scale operation, and chemical production

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position within a manufacturing facility in Des Moines, Iowa. You will be working on the 1st shift from Monday to Friday. The work environment includes a chemical plant where you will be around moving equipment and mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and biological hazards. The dress code includes uniforms, steel-toed boots, hair nets, and you will be required to shower after your shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $22.75/hr.
