Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This position will initially start in a general labor role working in the shred and de-boxing areas but will eventually move into a forklift position. During their first few weeks, the candidate will assist with breaking down boxes, cleaning up production floors, and operating the shredder equipment to shred scrap material. The candidate will eventually move into a lift truck operator position, operating a sit-down forklift to assist with moving large bales of recycled paper products to docks and areas to be shipped or stored. These bales weigh several hundred pounds, and the forklifts consist of clamps that pick up the bales for transport.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Des Moines, Iowa.

Work Environment

Old warehouse/production environment. It gets hot in the summers and cold in the winters. The work environment is basically the same temperature as it is outside. Forklifts are heated and cooled but production areas are NOT temperature controlled. This warehouse is also dirty and dusty due to the materials they distribute. 2nd shift: Monday thru Friday - NOON - 8:30pm - with overtime on Saturdays and Sundays when they get busy in the Spring. Hard Hats are required to be worn at all times on the production floor. If a candidate has long hair, they will be required to keep their hair tied up under the hard hat or tucked into their shirt at all times.
