Maintenance Welder Fabricator/Carpenter

Primary Function:

Performs carpentry, steel, and welding work in constructing, repairing, and maintaining buildings, warehouses, tools, structures, dies, jigs, and equipment.

Types of Machines, Tools and Equipment Used or Operated:

Arce and acetylene welding equipment, stationary or portable power equipment, various hand tools, measuring instruments, gages, ladders, and material handling equipment.

Job Details:

Work is not closely supervised.

Maintains a safe work environment.

Details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:

• Works from prints, sketches, manuals, verbal and written instructions, or procedures to plan and perform work responsibilities.

• Plans job, obtains necessary materials, and utilizes necessary jigs, fixtures, and holding devices required to perform work.

• Repairs and maintains buildings including plaster, concrete, masonry, framing, roofing, and steel.

• Maintains internal infrastructure including partitions, tracks, conveyors, rails, switches, support steel, jibs, joists.

• Prepares parts for welding. Creates and uses jigs, fixtures, holding devices.

• Selects correct welding process and welding setting for the job.

• Performs brazing, torch heating, silver soldering, metal spraying and flame cutting as required.

• Performs certified welding when required.

• Cleans equipment, and work area and performs other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
