Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Generator Service Technician to join our team. As a Generator Service Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of backup generators for various businesses and residences. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge and experience working with diesel and gas-powered engines, as well as automatic transfer switches.

Reports to: Foreman

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Certification from a technical or vocational school in diesel technology or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in working with diesel and gas-powered engines and electrical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools for inspection and repair of equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Working Conditions:

Work locations are primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions with frequent travel to customer locations for on-site repairs. You will work around electricity and other potential hazards requiring appropriate safety equipment and practices at all times. Much of the equipment used is heavy, so you must have the ability to lift as much as 75 pounds, as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • onduct regular maintenance and servicing of generators to ensure optimal performance

  • Inspect and troubleshoot engine and electrical components for diagnosis and repair

  • Analyze and interpret generator performance data to diagnose and resolve issues

  • Perform load bank testing to ensure proper performance of generators

  • Prepare service reports and other related documents for clients and management

  • Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions

  • Ensure safety practices and protocols are followed in all aspects of the job

  • Process required paperwork within deadline

  • Maintain part inventory of service truck

  • Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on-call technician rotation
