QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency preferred EXPERIENCE: On the job training provided, Previous manufacturing or foundry experience preferred - Equal Employment Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Male/Female/Veteran/Disabled - National Career Readiness Certification preferred GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Must have good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be able to work any shift. Must be able to maintain a clean workstation and clean equipment. Foundry worker includes coremaker, foundry support, molder, and knockout. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Core Maker

  • Must be able to identify the core boxes necessary for each mold
  • Must have good fine motor skills to make smaller pieces
  • Must be able to identify the differences in sand used in each core
  • Must be able to work with an inhibitor
  • Must be able to learn to work on a 240, 250, 450, or C3 rollover machine for the largest cores
  • Must be able to use a mixer and hydraulic equipment
  • Must be able to provide communication and support to the pattern shop on pattern boxes
  • Required to make quality cores by following work instructions and communicating with engineering team

Foundry Support

  • Must be able to ensure coremaker and molding operations receive adequate supplies for protection
  • Must be able to mix chill spray
  • Must be able to supply chills for core room and molding per the production schedule
  • Must be able to sort and store chills in the proper location in the chill room
  • Must be able to cut sleeves
  • Must be able to mix sand
  • Must be able to mix inhibitors
  • Must be able to spray chills and perform tumble blast on chills
  • Must be able to deliver patterns and gages to the core room, molding, and core box warehouse
  • Must be able to deliver cores, skids, plates, pallets, and test bars to molding and core room
  • Must be able to become forklift certified

Molding

Must be able to identify the cores necessary for each mold

Must be good at putting together puzzles

Must be able to read and identify a traveler

Must become familiar with wanding parts

Must have good communication with your supervisor to identify molds that are ready for pour
