For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role_ Knowledge and understanding of all roles and responsibilities of distribution, commercial, and treatment operations. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Makes the decisions necessary to carry out work assignments delegated by the supervisor. * Locates, inspects, operates, maintains, replaces, and installs all company assets as required to maintain the distribution system. * Conducts leak detection on water mains, hydrants, valves, and services to reduce lost water. * Participates in the distribution system flushing program. * Performs work under a team concept on the distribution system, including new construction, customer services, meter installation, and meter reading as assigned by the supervisor. * Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, piping, and other operating systems in water treatment and pumping facilities. * Qualifies as a competent person per OSHA guidelines. * Attends company training or outside training classes as assigned. * Performs other duties as assigned. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Knowledge of safety concerns associated with trenching and shoring, and other OSHA regulations. * Knowledge of basic hydraulics. _ Experience/Education_ High school diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate. IA State Driver's license is required.
