Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a software technician with a passion for electronics and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products. In this position you will partner with engineering to provide expertise and innovative solutions that support the engineering process. Software technicians provide technical knowledge, resources, and support with many of the hands-on technical tasks associated with engineering. This position offers abundant opportunities to acquire in-depth knowledge of GPS technology and to apply that knowledge in a laboratory environment.

In this position, you will be asked to perform a variety of highly complex technical tasks which will require you to have an understanding of electronics theory and C and Python programming experience. Responsibilities will include support tasks that span all phases of the software engineering life cycle including requirements analysis, design, code development, integration, verification, and documentation. Assignments may include developing systems and software level tests for our Airborne, Ground and Weapons GPS receiver products and executing and reporting the results of these tests to program leadership.

Candidates for this position must be able to perform as a member of a technical team. The candidate must have good communication skills and be self-motivated. Assigned tasks will require you to make sound decisions and judgement calls based on received technical data. You will be expected to be able to operate standard electronics lab test equipment as well as automated test equipment within our GPS labs. Candidates must adhere to all corporate and laboratory policies and procedures.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 3 years of experience in a engineering lab environment or a 2 Year Technicians Degree

  • C and Python Programming Experience

  • US Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills

  • A genuine desire to learn and innovate

  • Ability to work with a diverse team

  • Desire to contribute to a results oriented product development team

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded hardware/software applications

  • Simulink Model Based Development Experience
