QFS Manager, ADM Corn Processing – Cedar Rapids, IA Complex

Job Summary:

The Quality Food Safety Manager (QFSM) will support the implementation and enforcement of the Quality and Food Safety Management System requirements throughout the manufacturing process in order to ensure execution and compliance with company policies / processes, regulatory requirements, cGMP, and Industry standards. This position reports to the Regional Quality Food Safety Manager.

Position Description:

• QFSM manages a team of colleagues, and is also expected to be a mentor and coach for other colleagues facility-wide. QFSM will spend a significant amount of time in the field mentoring, providing support, and auditing practices and policies. QFSM will display a commitment to developing colleagues through overseeing training and development as well as conducting regular performance touch bases.

• QFSM will lead the Food Safety Teams and communicate and work with other departments to support Quality and Food Safety and continuous improvement programs related to the quality system as well as support the development and delivery of training to various departments within the plant to further improve the facility’s Quality culture.

• QFSM is expected to enforce cGMPs and safety regulations, conduct food safety and sanitation internal inspections, and participate in customer and third party audits. 

• QFSM will work in a fast-paced environment and must have strong quality and food safety technical skills and problem solving / organizational skills (e.g., cGMPs, basic microbiology including swabbing, IPM, hygienic design, and sanitation)

Requirements:

• BS degree in Food Science or related experience AND/OR 5+ years of quality assurance experience in feed/food industry

• Knowledge of FDA and state regulatory requirements

• Trained in Preventive Controls for Human Food and/or Animal Food preferred

• Highly organized with an ability to multi-task

• Effective use of Microsoft office applications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/quality colleagues

• Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis skills

• This position requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions such as an office environment, indoors/outdoors, hot/cold weather as well as physical demands such as standing, kneeling, and sitting for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to work in confined spaces in a variety of environmental conditions.
