CRST Equipment Solutions keeps our fleet running safely and efficiently through expert sales, maintenance, and service support. The division is made up of specialized teams, each playing a critical role. Internal Maintenance handles repairs and preventative maintenance for company-owned equipment, while Independent Contractor Maintenance provides tailored support for owner-operators. External and Breakdown Maintenance minimizes downtime with roadside assistance and repair partnerships. Corporate Maintenance oversees fleet strategy, cost control, and maintenance programs. Equipment Sales and Purchasing ensures the right equipment is sourced and sold to meet fleet needs. THE POSITION
Reporting Structure : The Manager – Maintenance reports to the Director – Maintenance.
Compensation : Base salary + 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
Shift Schedule : Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with potential after-hours responsibilities.
Role and Responsibilities
The Manager – Maintenance ensures the efficient operation of equipment maintenance by leading a team, managing vendor relationships, optimizing costs, and reducing downtime. This role plays a critical part in maintaining equipment performance, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with operational and financial goals.
Key responsibilities include:
Team Leadership
Oversee and support maintenance coordinators and direct reports, ensuring workflow efficiency
Hire, train, and develop new maintenance coordination personnel
Establish team performance expectations and ensure accountability
Manage daily workflow, vacation schedules, and phone coverage
Conduct weekly team meetings to align priorities and resolve challenges
Fleet & Maintenance Oversight
Manage scheduling for preventative maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime
Monitor CPU and implement cost-saving processes
Reduce downtime through proactive management of units out of service
Establish and maintain a preferred vendor list to ensure quality service
Inform CRST Operations of ongoing maintenance concerns and resolutions
Financial & Operational Efficiency
Monitor phone times and dropped call percentages to ensure responsiveness
Address immediate coordinator needs to optimize efficiency and service levels
Verify invoices, manage warranty claims, and approve payments
Create purchase orders (POs) in the Transman system
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of maintenance activities
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Successful completion of a CRST background check and drug screen
Skills and Expertise
Experience managing maintenance teams and coordinating fleet operations
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
Ability to optimize maintenance scheduling and reduce downtime
Knowledge of fleet maintenance software (Transman preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
