This is a full time, hourly position

Position Summary:

Provide plant engineering technical support in the day-to-day operation of a dry mill production facility that produces a diversified line of food ingredients, ethanol, corn oil and animal feed. This includes using technical knowledge and skills to partner with employees at all levels to ensure that safety, quality, and cost objectives are met. Specific responsibilities include application of instrumentation expertise to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from instrumentation specification of I/O design and installation. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that process instrumentation systems are designed and maintained at a level adequate for optimal control system performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of production processes, equipment and operations in the interest of repairing electronic monitoring or control devices.

• Diagnoses problems with control panels and related production equipment and makes repairs to or replaces such as required.

• Repairs and replaces valves and monitoring devices as needed.

• Develops or modifies computer programs for process control functions, writing instructions and revising programs as required.

• May build or modify equipment such as alarms, timers and related devices to insure the efficient operation of production processes.

• Maintains a thorough awareness of and may utilize manuals, publications and files required to address problems efficiently.

• Confers with maintenance personnel and/or technical support teams in identifying mechanical or electronic problems with production equipment.

• Possess good working knowledge of PID control loops

• May participate in the installation of new or modified equipment, insuring that electronic equipment is operating effectively.

• Develops a thorough knowledge of manuals, publications and files concerning the operation and repair of equipment.

• Develops and maintains documentation of computer programs relating to production processes.

• Participates actively in training.

• Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves.

• Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone’s responsibility.

• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment.

• Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees.

• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements.

• May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Commitment to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of coworkers.

• Vocational or technical training in a mechanical and electrical field or equivalent industrial work experience required.

• Knowledge of instrumentation requirements related to process unit operations.

• Experience with a wide variety of process instrumentation including flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical.

• Experience sizing and specifying control valves. Experience with instrumentation management systems.

• Must have strong organization skills, as well as excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Must be able to accomplish results by working independently and in teams, working effectively with others at all levels of the plant organization.

• Must be willing and able to work in plant areas (i.e. walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. and move through close spaces) to understand and monitor the process.

• Must be able to respond quickly to changing requirements and be capable of working in hot and cold temperatures.

• Must be available to work with a call-in process for 'off-hours' as plant needs arise
