  • Support supply chain relationship, resource and vendor management functions.

  • Issue and evaluate strategic Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP).

  • Support a program to evaluate new and existing vendors as well as their products and services to create synergy across business organizations.

  • Develop strategic category management plans to implement value creation both through decreasing costs (via improved vendor selection and management, as well as process efficiencies) and increasing top-line growth.

  • Work on cross-functional teams in order to effectively engage and partner with key stakeholders to best advance supply chain initiatives that support the company’s strategic objectives. Facilitate routine business review meetings with clients and key suppliers.

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic sourcing plans for ongoing client needs.

Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Category Management Specialist to join our team in Madison WI and Cedar Rapids, IA! Supporting the supply chain relationship, resource and category management team, you will integrate internal client initiatives, strategy, and business direction with supply management. Focusing on cultivating strategic partnerships with clients and vendors crafting new value for the company by advancing business objectives. Partnering with client subject matter specialists and managers to assess business requirements and jointly develop and own strategic plans for ongoing sourcing needs. Works seamlessly with supply chain contract management and business performance teams in order to execute projects successfully.

Responsible for developing strategic category management plans to implement value creation both through decreasing costs (via improved vendor selection and management, as well as process efficiencies) and increasing top-line growth.

  • This position offers a blend of working from home, and in the Cedar Rapids, IA office or Madison, WI office on average 2 days per week. The successful candidate must reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin.

Job Category:Sourcing & Supply Chain Job Qualifications:

Required Experience

  • 2-5 years of related experience in category management, purchasing or supply chain.

    Preferred Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Business Administration, Purchasing or Supply Chain.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation

    We also prefer:

  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment and proven cross-functional team work experience, including the ability to track and report project status from start to finish, as well as the ability to gain trust and confidence of internal and external personnel.

  • Expereince with the interconnections of complex components that make up a part of a larger system, specifically in regards to mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to guide collaborative projects with suppliers to deliver value, efficiencies and/or improvements in safety and quality. Persuasive communication skills (oral and written) with an ability to communicate to senior executives in client organizations with excellent analytic, negotiation, and problem solving skills.

  • Experience handling multiple high-profile projects simultaneously and ability to take ownership of assigned projects. Establishing proficiency utilizing evolving technological tools to streamline daily tasks and communications.
