The Operations team at Viking Pump, Inc. - A Unit of IDEX Corporation is currently accepting applications for a CNC Programmer skilled in CAM programming, and experience working with advanced CNC machines and to maintain machining excellence at our vertically integrated Machine Shop in Cedar Falls, IA.

Due to the nature of the products currently being manufactured at Viking Pump, we adhere to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In turn, we are only able to hire US Persons .

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Develop, program, evaluate, troubleshoot, and recommend CNC machine tools, utilizing personal computers, CAM software, and DNC systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop efficient CNC programs and related materials using tool drawings, fixture drawings, part prints, and associated documents.

  • Work with operators, lead people, supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and other internal and external resources to optimize old and new processes and assist in training of these processes.

  • Recommend new or revised tooling, fixtures, equipment, software, and process improvements to support efficient operations.

  • Conduct special studies, assist with capital research, serve on special teams, and provide support for Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other quality initiatives as required.

  • Proactively communicate operations, problems, and opportunities as they arise.

  • Take positive action to advance personal knowledge of manufacturing technology, CNC programming, CAM software, DNC technology, and related information.

  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation to assist in the control and evaluation of programming operations.

  • Assist in the development of a safe working environment through the use of occupational safety and health standards, including ergonomic principles.

  • Other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Automation, or related AA or AS degree preferred.

  • Training or experience working with CAM software required; EdgeCam preferred.

  • Varied CNC operating experience desirable.

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires extensive knowledge of machine processes, capabilities, and resources available.

  • Strong knowledge of general math, geometry, and trigonometry.

  • Visualization ability required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of computer basics required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.

  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.

  • Requires frequent contact with personnel from all departments, at all management levels, and outside vendors.
