You have selected to complete a profile at Des Moines Works for the Skilled Trades– Toolmaker position. Toolmakers plan, lay out, construct, and/or inspect by intricate gauging, lay out a variety of highly specialized tools, fixtures, jigs, dies or gauges requiring highly skilled workmanship, holding to extremely close tolerances, or to tolerances which, due to the nature of the work, are difficult to attain. Makes decisions as to usability from a functional standpoint. In addition, they are expected to:

-Perform tasks necessary to support operations in a team environment

-Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime

-Work with minimal supervision

-Supply their own tools

-Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority)

-Tool & Die Journeyman’s card and/or 8 years of experience
