Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

This research (under the supervision of Professor Zengyi Shao) focuses on building disease models in yeasts, being particularly related to studying genes related to mitochondrial malfunctions. Prior knowledge in mitochondrial physiology and genetics or CRISPR-associated technologies is highly desired. The position is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The researcher is offered highly collaborative opportunities to interact with other researchers from backgrounds in synthetic biology, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, and biochemical engineering. The target start date is 9/15 but is flexible to the needs of the candidate.

Specific responsibilities include experimental design, execution, and troubleshooting; rigorous data analysis; review of relevant scientific literature; supervision of graduate and undergraduate researchers; preparation and review of manuscripts and presentations; assisting the PI in the preparation of technical reports and intellectual disclosures; attending center meetings; adherence to safe laboratory procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD or Doctoral Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Genetics, Cell Biology, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or other relevant fields.
