Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Postdoc will work closely with BEI co-Director and Regenerative Agriculture team to conduct assessment of subfield profitability and GHG emissions for corn-soybean systems. Using a collection of data from public sources on land use, soils, and economics and integration with APSIM, the Agricultural Production Systems sIMulator, a process-based agricultural model, this position will formulate yield predictions for corn, soybeans, cover crops, and perennial biomass. This role will also provide updated assessments based on real-time input cost and market data and conduct subfield assessment for yield, profitability, and environmental performance on 5.1 million acres in the pilot project region (Iowa, Missouri) to inform outreach efforts using Foresite. While efforts will be collaborative, it is expected that the PostDoc work independently and ultimately publish results through scientific journals, technical conferences and funding agency reports.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or Doctoral Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Engineering or related discipline with experience analyzing data sets (e.g. land, soil, and economic data integrated with APSIM)
Experience developing and refining models of subfield yield, profitability, and environmental performance in the Midwest U.S.
Experience drafting and submitting grant proposals and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
